I’m Joe Clayton, a lifelong Motocross and Supercross rider based in Totnes, Devon. I started racing young and worked my way through the UK Motocross scene, competing in Arenacross from the age of 16. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of riding for some incredible teams and working with top-level manufacturers including Honda, Kawasaki, and Husqvarna. Each team taught me something new from bike setup and racecraft to handling pressure and pushing performance at the highest levels.
Racing has taken me all over the UK and abroad, and it’s shaped me into the coach I am today. I’ve experienced the highs of competition, the learning curves, the injuries, the comebacks, and the mindset needed to keep progressing. All of that now feeds directly into how I coach riders.
Helping people improve on the bike has become just as rewarding to me as racing ever was. Whether it’s a junior rider taking their first proper steps in Motocross or an adult trying to sharpen their technique, seeing progression in others is what drives me now.

This international experience includes extended periods living and competing professionally in both Italy and the United States.
Everything builds from the fundamentals, body position, throttle control, cornering, starts, jumping, and race awareness. I break skills down so riders understand why something works, not just how to do it.
Motocross is as mental as it is physical. I support riders with focus, confidence, and learning to stay calm under pressure, especially on race days.
Pushing limits is important, but doing it safely is everything. My coaching balances improvement with risk awareness so riders grow steadily and confidently.
Every session is structured with clear purpose and progression. My focus is on measurable improvement, race readiness, and building riders who perform with confidence at training and competition.

My coaching philosophy is built around long-term rider development, not short-term gains. I work with riders over extended periods to build strong fundamentals, consistent technique, mental resilience, and race awareness that carry through every stage of their riding journey.
I take real enjoyment in seeing riders progress over time and in building strong, respectful relationships that benefit both rider and coach. That ongoing connection allows me to understand each rider’s strengths, challenges, and goals in detail, creating a more effective and supportive coaching environment.
Whether you’re a junior rider starting out, an amateur building experience, or a competitive racer chasing results in Motocross, Supercross, or Arenacross, my approach is structured to support sustainable progression. Training plans evolve as riders grow in confidence, speed, and racecraft, ensuring steady improvement without unnecessary risk.
By focusing on progressive skill development, structured training cycles, and long-term performance goals, I help riders avoid bad habits, reduce injury risk, and maximise their potential both in practice and on race days. This long-term approach develops confident, capable riders prepared for the demands of competition.
